Laine’s Tattoo Policies
Thank you for taking the time to review my policies! Paying a deposit is an agreement to these policies, so please review before doing so. If you have any questions, email me at petitkaiju.ink@gmail.com.
It’s important that you’re happy with the design and comfortable during our session. If you have any questions, concerns, or requests, please bring them to my attention! Getting tattoos should be a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Thank you!

Laine’s Policies
Deposits & Payment
A $100 deposit is required to reserve your time slot. Deposits are applied to the total price of your tattoo.
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable to other people or to other designs.
Make sure you are clear on your design and tell me all the details I need to know before putting down a deposit. We’ll be in conversation through your chosen method (email, text, instagram), during which I’ll ask for any more specifics that weren’t in your booking request. If an in-person consultation is needed, I’ll let you know!
Please be clear on what elements you want and don’t want (if applicable); if you’re open to artist discretion, include that!
I can take deposits via Zelle, Venmo, or cash:
Zelle (preferred)
Send $100 via Zelle to lainewalrath@gmail.com.
Please message me when you send your deposit so I can confirm.
Venmo
Send $100 via venmo to @L-Walrath.
Please use only emoji in the payment note.
Please do not select Goods/services to avoid additional fees.
Message me after sending so I can confirm.
Cash
If you’d like to pay your deposit in cash, please let me know in our messages and we can coordinate a time for drop off at our shop at 2329 Santa Clara Ave. Suite 205 in Alameda, CA.
I take any of those payment methods for the remaining balance of your tattoo (cash is preferred).
Punctuality & Rescheduling
Deposits include one complimentary reschedule which must be made with at least 48 hours notice before your appointment.
Reschedules made with less than 48 hours notice forfeit the original deposit and will require paying a new $100 deposit.
If you are more than 15 minutes late without communicating with me, we may have to reschedule your appointment which forfeits the original deposit and requires payment of an additional deposit. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your original deposit is forfeit and will require another to reschedule.
If you’re running late, please text me at (510) 394-4142!
Deposits are good for up to 4 months and for no more than one reschedule.
The exceptions are pregnancy, hospitalization, or medical/medication conflicts. If you become pregnant, hospitalized, or have to start a medication or medical treatment that prevents you from getting a tattoo after you have put down a deposit, I am happy to return your deposit or honor it when you’re ready.
Rates & Pricing
I have a $100 minimum, per client, per session.
My general rate is $200/hour.
I'm happy to have a conversation about budget during the booking process!
Resting & Breaks
You are welcome to request any extra breaks to care for your body! I do not charge for body breaks (water, restroom, stretching, pain relief, etc).
For large-scale and/or color projects, I encourage multiple sessions to give your body a break and time to heal.
Custom Pieces
If you are getting a custom piece: I share custom designs on the day of your appointment. I will share sketches after the deposit is settled/before our appointment to make sure you’re happy with the general design.
If requested changes are substantial and/or require a complete design re-draw, a reschedule and new deposit might be necessary.
If you are interested in viewing your finalized design prior to your appointment, you can schedule a design review consultation. If you would like to schedule this design review consultation, please let me know prior to your tattoo appointment!
Touch-ups
Touch-ups are free within the first year of your tattoo. To schedule your free touch-up:
I highly recommend you schedule your touch up after the tattoo is healed 1-3 months to ensure even aging of the tattoo.
If you need to reschedule your touch up appointment, please just let me know with as much notice as possible.
If you no call/no show to a scheduled touch up you will have to pay to reschedule.
The best way to schedule a touch-up is to send a picture of your tattoo, so I can give an estimate of how long it would take.
If you wait longer than 1 year to schedule your touch up I will have to charge. Please don’t wait to schedule!
If you have waited longer than a year for a touch up but you are coming in for a new tattoo I can still honor the free touch up.
About Our Space
We are a queer space; please feel free to ask me if you’re unsure how to address someone, but using they/them is fine until you get a formal introduction. My pronouns are they/them.
Transportation & Parking
Pretty In Ink: Alameda is located 2329 Santa Clara Ave #205, Alameda, CA 94501
If you are driving to the shop, I recommend parking in the movie theater public parking garage located on Oak St. between Central and Santa Clara. The rate is cheaper than metered parking (75 cents/hour), and the time limit is longer as well. Parking there is free after 5pm.
If you don’t mind a bit of a walk, you can sometimes find free all-day street parking on Santa Clara about a block North from the Buddhist Temple.
Note- if you are using Google maps: Google maps tends to confuse people as it announces “you have arrived” on Park street, in front of Ole's Waffle Shop. The entrance to our building is just around the corner on Santa Clara Ave., next to Gong Cha. You will see our sandwich board sign out on the sidewalk.
If you are coming from BART, the 51A bus runs from Fruitvale station into Alameda.
Helpful Info
Getting ink on clothing is always a possibility; I recommend wearing something you would not mind possibly getting ink on.
Wear something comfortable that allows for easy access to the area you will be getting tattooed.
Please have something to eat before your tattoo. I wouldn’t recommend getting tattooed on an empty stomach. You’re also welcome to bring snacks to your appointment, and we have candies in the shop.
I also recommend having something after the tattoo to replenish your blood sugars!
If you would like to review a recommended aftercare routine in advance, click here. I will also go over aftercare instructions with you after your tattoo and can send you home with a sheet of instructions.
I prefer to use Recovery Derm Shield; if you’re sensitive to adhesives (medical tape, etc) or don’t want to use the derm shield for any reason, your new tattoo will alternatively be covered with plastic wrap.
I look forward to working with you!
